Useful French Roulette Terms

by on February 15, 2013

You might think you’ll never need these, but it’s often surprising how many casinos use French words on their roulette tables.   Many of the best hotels in Europe have casinos and many of them use French terms to describe the bets.

Of course you don’t need to speak French to play on these tables but it’s nice to know what the actual terms mean.  So here’s a quick list of some of the most important french roulette words.

En Plein – Straight Up Bet

A Cheval – Split Bet

Carre – Corner Bet

Sixaine – Line Bet

Passe/Manque – High/Low

Impair/Pair  – Odd/Even

Douzaine – Dozen Bet

Colonne  – Column Bet

Transversale  – Street Bet

I agree, this is a good start but need some more French casino terms and a few more numbers relating to games like craps and baccarat.

Haha this was very useful for me, I found this page just before I went out to a casino in Cannes called the Palm Beach. Everything was in French and I didn’t know any of the terms, but those phrases helped me get started. You should expand the page a bit though to include some other casino phrases and other games.
Thanks Donna
