An Introduction to the Rule of Five System

by on May 1, 2012

There are many problems with the majority of roulette systems. However one of the most common issues is that most are progression systems and also tend to be very aggressive.  That aggression when channelled into an unluck streak can get people into big financial trouble extremely quickly.  Even if you have a very big bank roll there are other obstacles.

Table limits are the bane of all such systems – preventing you from making the required wager to recoup any losses. The 5-Spin system is also one of the progression systems – but it’s not nearly as aggressive as most of them. The idea is that you’ll spend more time at the table and hopefully win more.

There are no prizes for guessing that the Rule of 5 System is based on five numbers.  You increase your bet by a single unit but only if after 5 spins you have not won.  You aslo need to decrease your bets by one unit after each win.  The system requires that you place your bets on unpopular numbers, i.e. those which haven’t come up in a while.  In casino terminology they are usually called ‘sleeper numbers’.

So there’s a bit of preparation required, you first have to watch the table and keep a list of those spins. Your goal is to come up with the sleeper numbers before you begin to use the system.  Once you’ve got your numbers then you can start placing bets, it’s important to not increase your stakes until you’ve lost 5 spins in a row.  You have to continue to add an additional unit after every 5 losses, and take one unit away after each win.  You do this until you’ve reached your goal or removed all your wagers from the table.

The rather flawed theory is that it’s more likely that you’ll win after 5 straight losses.  Unfortunately the mathematics don’t support that view and in fact you’re just as likely to lose simply because the roulette wheel doesn’t have a memory.  This is actually true for the vast majority of roulette systems – the fatal flaw behind most of them.  The reality is that no legal system can change the odds you face when you play the game.  It’s important to stick to your budget and use a roulette system to add some structure to your play.

This is all a system can do in reality.

You’ll find loads more betting tactics and systems on this site.   If you do want to play a system understand their limitations and pick one that’s fun to play.  Make sure you fully understand the system before you start using real money. There are free online games on most casino sites which you can use to practice. Be especially careful using a system on computer generated roulette games – it’s dangerous to try these on software controlled games.

There are a couple of live casino games but only one completely real game which is streamed from a real casino – you can play the free game on this as well, it’s called Dublin Bet.  Check it out you can be playing the free game in a few seconds. The beauty is that it’s not a staged game like most live roulette tables online. You play the same spins as the people in the casino itself.   It’s perfect for trying out strategies and tactics.  I enjoy it most when the casino is fun – put it on full screen and you get some of the atmosphere of the casino as well.
